We need YOUR help!

The Woodland Cemetery is a not-for-profit association, relying ONLY on burials, donations, and volunteer work.

Keeping Clean

In addition to financial support, the Woodland Cemetery needs volunteers to clean plots, plant flowers, weed gardens, & more!

Trimming Trees

We're in need of  tree professionals or individuals who can prune and/or remove trees and chip tree branches.

Re-Surveying

Volunteers are needed to help resurvey gravesites so Cemetery maps can be updated.

Landscaping

Equipment and helpers are needed to create access to the Children's Burial Section, the Common Burial Ground and the gravesites in the rear of the Cemetery.

Lately, we have heard some funeral directors say that they thought Woodland Cemetery was closed to new burials. We are very much open for new burials, have a large inventory in the easily accessible new section along Highland Ave, and offer a great value for both inground burials and interment of cremains. Be sure to check us out! Here is a photo of a recent interment....

Today the Verrazano Kiwanis Club led volunteers in memorializing our cemetery’s veterans.

Their “Wreaths Across America” ceremony drew dozens to Woodland this morning.

We’d like to thank the Kiwanis Club, Boy Scout Troop 41, Rolling Thunder, New Dorp Key Club & all who helped make this special event a reality.

One of our last (long overdue) projects for the year. New plantings around our signage and by the receiving tomb.

If you’ve been to the cemetery recently, you might have noticed some big changes underway…

Check out our newly paved roads! 🚜👷‍♂️

We have a new project in the works at the Cemetery! Starting tomorrow, the Cemetery's paving contractor will begin installing curbing along the entranceway and around the Vereinplotz. Once that is done, the road around the Vereinplotz will be paved. The Cemetery asks all visitors to park on Highland Avenue and walk into the Cemetery, until this work is complete. Thank you for your cooperation.

Sometimes, nature has a way of performing its own restoration work. The almost-daily storms we've been having caused the grass to spread and grow in the Vereinplotz - no human intervention needed. We still need to do some work (i.e., removing the weeds, pruning trees, adding more topsoil and spreading grass seed), but this is certainly a good start.
